Job description

We at
seek a post doc researcher in biomechanics of human movement.
Our research focuses on technology to decode, measure and enhance human movements, particularly in people with motor disabilities. The KTH MoveAbility research group is part of the Department of Engineering Mechanics. The Promobilia MoveAbility Lab is a well-equipped experimental research infrastructure, centrally located on KTH's campus, and in close collaboration with an interdisciplinary network of clinical and technical researchers and healthcare professionals. The post doc position is financed by the Promobilia Foundation. The topic must fit into the group’s overall goals to quantify motor and sensory factors that contribute to movement deviations, to measure, model and simulate the musculoskeletal system, and to develop active movement assistive devices. Duties may include, in addition to research and scientific publication, experiments on human subjects, innovation, and teaching and co-supervising students.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree in a topic of relevance for the project, for example, engineering mechanics, engineering physics, engineering mathematics, biomechanics, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, computer science with focus on human movement, robotics or biomedical engineering. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
  • Research expertise, demonstrated by high-quality scientific publications
  • Extensive knowledge of human movement
  • Experience with human movement analysis and/or musculoskeletal simulation
  • Good independence to take initiatives, combined with good collaborative and communication abilities
  • Social skills and ethical values needed to interact with and perform experiments on people with and without disabilities
  • Very good skills in English speaking and writing as it's required in the daily work

Preferred qualifications

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline
  • Knowledge of ethical considerations and study design involving experiments on human subjects
  • Teaching and pedagogical skills, demonstrated by for instance supervision of undergraduate students
  • Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality
  • Genuine desire to learn Swedish

About the employment

The position offered is for, at the most, two years.
A position as a postdoctoral fellow is a time-limited qualified appointment focusing mainly on research, intended as a first career step after a dissertation.
