The
Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C2DH)
is a
research
centre
for the study, analysis and public dissemination of contemporary history of Luxembourg and Europe with a particular focus on digital methods and tools for doing innovative historical research. It serves as a catalyst for

innovative
and
creative
scholarship and new forms of public dissemination and societal engagement with history.
Within the past 5 years, the C²DH (
) has established itself as a centre for ambitious research in digital history. Based on the success of our past projects and new projects emerging we want to strengthen our capacities in the visualisation of data both as a tool for exploration - so to find the unknown - as well as a way of representing research results.

Your Role...

As a researcher you will push the boundaries of data visualisation in digital history. Embedded in a team of committed historians, designers, and developers you will advocate the use of data visualisation at the centre and seek for new opportunities to demonstrate its potential. Furthermore, you will collaborate with our partner institutions in Luxembourg and all over the world to establish new paradigms for data visualisation. We expect you to disseminate the results of your research widely. In your day to day work you will consult colleagues at the centre on tailor made solutions for their data visualisation challenges. In a strategic perspective, your goal is to shape the discourse on data visualisation in the wider community of digital humanities and history.

As a researcher at the university of Luxembourg you are expected to deliver 45 teaching units per year. This equivalates to about one course per semester.

What we expect from you…

The ideal candidate would have demonstrated experience in data visualisation, ideally in the domain of digital history or the humanities. We seek a highly motivated candidate with the following profile:

PhD in data science, computer science, history, information science, design, digital humanities or related disciplines;

An interest in digital humanities, digital archives, and preservation
