Who are we looking for?

As Product developer and buyer, you are responsible for the entire sourcing & purchasing process through which you build the strong base for the Mexx brand. Together with the design department you decide on the right partners to develop our collections, conduct price negotiations and when purchasing contracts have been concluded, you supervise compliance and operation of the contracts. Next to this you like to streamline development and production processes to get the product in the best way from sketch to our customer. Being a positive, proactive and result driven personality who loves to find the best ways of creating and producing the best collection for Mexx.

What are your responsibilities?

  • Managing and optimizing the supplier portfolio;
  • Develop a long term buying and sourcing strategy;
  • Creating a line- and fabric plan according to seasonal needs, price level and allocation together with the head of product;
  • Supporting the design team and technical division in developing the styles from sketch to sms;
  • Maintaining close contacts with suppliers (international) and evolve the relationships and opportunities in sourcing, development and production;
  • Making price calculations, price agreements and conducting price negotiations; with keeping a healthy balance in design must have and commercial styles;
  • Monitoring margins;
  • Placing orders and monitoring delivery times with colleagues from the order handling department;
  • Analysis based on sales and results;
  • Managing the inventory of hangtags and trims;
  • In case of impending stagnation you intervene adequately;
  • You work closely with the designteam and order handling departments to ensure that processes run smoothly;
  • Take ownership of the entire development and production process together with the rest of the Product development, buying , design and Technical team;
  • Actively track and proactively researching new opportunities, fabrics and suppliers which help to improve the Mexx brand;
  • A big love for moving a brand into a more sustainable direction. Handling this transition in the Product department and work together with our MVO team to make this happen;
  • Working closely and communicate daily on issues and changes that arise from the development and production of designs selected with the team in the office next to suppliers and offices abroad.

Requirements:

  • Experience from a similar position as product developer in apparel for at least 7 years;
  • Technical knowledge of style development and fit creation;
  • Flexible, accurate, structured, responsible, results-oriented and can work well under pressure;
  • Numerical insight and analytical skills that enable you to act as a sparring partner;
  • PLM or similar program knowledge is convenient;
  • You have an excellent command of the English language, both verbally and in writing;
  • Speaking and understanding Dutch is a huge pre;
  • Flexible, accurate, structured, responsible and can work well under pressure;
  • Work as a true team player;
  • Is able to work in a dynamic environment, work independently and has a hands on mentality.
